SURE ProEd (SURE Trust)

Today, the highest proportion of the world’s youth lives in rural areas with the increased risk of being caught in unemployment or poor-quality employment primarily due to growing population, urbanization, and the gap in what is being taught versus skills required for gainful employment. While there are several governmental and philanthropic approaches developed to address this global challenge, more innovative methods are required. The SURE Trust experiment, as demonstrated to be successful over the last two years, is unique as it is enabling upgradation of educated unemployed youth skills in emerging technologies that are the most-in-demand in industry in combination with life altering soft skills. The SURE Trust is a testimony for the successful demonstration of the proof of concept of this innovative experiment that relies on a virtual platform, courses strategically designed, totally free of cost to the students and primarily sustains on the generosity of volunteer tutors and supporting staff. This model can be scaled-up across the country and across the globe. The map shows the proportion of the population aged 15-24 living in rural areas (i.e., rural youth) for most countries of the world. The SURE Trust team is inspired by the vision to address this global challenge in its unique way and therefore makes significant and positive changes to this map.
In a situation where edtech companies are at play to hold the multi-billion-dollar unicorn status, SURE Trust is going back in time to the value that “education is not a business product but a human right”. This stepping back in time is what is required today to propel the educated unemployed rural youth into their career heights.
