CoupleSync: Daily Questions

One question a day, and a shared diary that grows out of it.

CoupleSync is a couple app built on daily questions. You both answer the same prompt separately, and neither answer unlocks until both are in. Two kinds of compatibility grow alongside it: how alike you are, and how well you actually know each other.

■ Five questions every day
Over 340 questions across nine categories, with a new set opening at midnight. They range from light preference prompts to things you have been meaning to ask but never quite did, so subjects that never surface in everyday conversation come up naturally.

■ Nobody peeks
You cannot see their answer before writing yours. The moment both are in and the handwriting is revealed is the best part of this couple diary. Because you each answer honestly first and open afterwards, the results are far more interesting than a quiz you can game.

■ Compatibility on two axes
Most couple quiz apps only measure overlap. CoupleSync measures two separate things.
• Similarity — how much your tastes and opinions coincide
• Understanding — a prediction game where you guess their answer
Some couples score low on similarity and high on understanding, and some the other way round. The longer a relationship runs, the more the second one matters.

■ A map you widen together
As answers accumulate, places that belong to just the two of you — an alley, a lighthouse, a square — light up one by one. Each day's question becomes another tile, so within a week you can see the thing you have been building.

■ A weekly discovery
Each week's answers come back as discovery cards and a report on what you did not know about each other. It shows which topics you split on and who read the other better. It is written to be a conversation starter, not evidence for an argument.
