Solace is a calm, private companion for everyday mental wellbeing.

Whether you want a 30-second mood check-in, a few quiet minutes with a guided breath, a journal entry no one else will ever read, or a validated self-assessment to help you talk to a clinician — Solace is built to meet you wherever you are today.

### Why people use Solace
- Notice the patterns. A quick daily mood log builds a picture of what lifts you and what drains you, gently surfaced as week, month, and year-long trends.
- Build small practices. A personalized daily plan recommends a breath, a journal prompt, a meditation, or a grounding exercise — picked to match the goals you set in onboarding.
- Check in with yourself. Twelve validated self-assessments (WHO-5, PHQ-9, GAD-7, PSS-10, DASS-21, PCL-5, AUDIT, ISI, PSQI, K10, UCLA-3, CBI) with plain-language interpretations and personalized next steps.

### A different kind of mental-health app
- No account. No login. No cloud. Solace doesn't ask for your name, email, or phone number. There is nothing to sign up for.
- Your data stays on your device. Check-ins, journal entries, photos you attach, and assessment results all live in encrypted local storage. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
- Export anytime. A one-tap JSON export lets you take a copy of everything you've written. A separate "Reset all data" wipes the device-local store on request.
- Offline-friendly. Every tool, exercise, and assessment works without an internet connection. Internet is only used to load lessons and the optional ad slot at the bottom of some screens.

### Who Solace is for
Solace is built for adults (16+) who want a private, gentle space for everyday wellbeing. It complements — but does not replace — professional care. If you're already working with a therapist or doctor, the daily plan, journal, and assessment history can be useful to share with them.

### Who Solace is NOT for
- Not a medical device. Solace does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition.
- Not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, please call 988 (US), 999 / 112, or your local emergency number. Solace's SOS screen is a shortcut to trained crisis services — not a replacement for them.

### What's included for free
Everything. No premium tier, no paywalled assessments, no locked tools. The app shows a small banner ad on some screens (dismissible for the current session with the close button) and an occasional full-screen ad after you finish a tool or assessment — that's how Solace stays free.

### Permissions Solace asks for (and why)
- Photos — only if you choose to attach an image to a journal entry. Solace stores a reference to the photo on this device. No upload.
- Notifications — only if you turn on reminders. Used to send your morning, midday, or evening check-in nudges at the times you pick.
