Clinometer: Angle & Roof Pitch

Clinometer is an inclinometer and angle meter for builders, roofers, woodworkers and DIY jobs. The live angle is on screen as soon as the app opens: set the phone on a rafter, ramp, deck, pipe or stair stringer and read degrees, percent grade and 1:N ratio together.

▶ MEASURE
• Auto gauge — degrees, grade % and ratio, with a live x:12 pitch and mm-per-metre row underneath.
• Roof pitch — rise over run (3:12, 6:12, 8:12…) matched to the nearest standard pitch.
• Slope — grade % sorted into level, gentle, moderate, steep and severe, with references like the 1:12 ADA ramp limit.
• Tilt — bubble display with a level indicator.
• Works lying flat, standing on end or on the long edge. The app shows which one it detected; tap the chip if you need another.

▶ CHECK AGAINST A TARGET
Choose ADA ramp, drainage (1–5%), driveway (≤15%), shingle roof (2:12–9:12) or stairs (30–35°). The badge reads PASS or OUT OF RANGE live, so you can shim, plane or re-cut until it passes.

▶ CONTROLS
• Start / Stop — records min, max, elapsed time and a trend line; the reading is saved to History when you stop.
• Hold — freezes the value for awkward spots.
• Zero — set any trusted surface as 0°; kept after restart, long-press to clear. A manual offset is in Settings.
• Optional buzz when you pass through 0°.

▶ LEVEL · VEHICLE · MITER
• Two-axis bubble level with roll and pitch.
• Vehicle mode for 4x4 and campers: roll and pitch gauges, zero on your parking spot, max tilt and an adjustable warning from 5° to 60°.
• Miter & crown calculator: enter the wall corner and spring angle (38/45/52°) to get miter and bevel saw settings, or measure the corner with the phone against both walls.

Keep up to 500 readings with notes and stars, compare two of them, see 7-day averages, export CSV, log one point per second, or share a reading as an image.

Values are displayed to a tenth of a degree. Phone sensors differ and thick cases add error — zero on a known level surface for critical work.
