Features & Capabilities

Coptic Seneksar brings the Coptic Synaxarium (Senksar, Synaxarion, السنكسار) to your Android phone. It presents the lives of the saints, martyrs, and church events that the Coptic Orthodox Church commemorates on every day of the year. Today's Synaxarium opens as soon as you launch the app, and you can open any day by its Coptic or Gregorian date. You can search for saints and events by name in Arabic or English, and share a full day or just its headlines with family and friends.

The app offers three texts: the revised New Arabic edition of the Syrian Monastery (Deir El-Sourian), the Old Arabic original, and an English translation. Download a language once and read offline at church, while travelling, or during the Divine Liturgy. A built-in Coptic calendar and date converter maps dates between the Gregorian calendar and the Era of the Martyrs, covering all 13 Coptic months. It also lists the feasts and fasts of any year, including Coptic Christmas, Coptic Easter, Nayrouz, and the Great Lent. Home-screen widgets show the Coptic date and today's saints, and adapt to light and dark mode. Coptic Seneksar is free and has no ads.

User Reviews

Overall, users praise the Arabic content and ease of use, and note improvements after recent updates. However, recurring problems include date inaccuracies for feasts and calendars, incomplete saintly biographies, and stability issues (app not loading, widget problems, language download errors). Some request more images and reminders. A few reviews question maintenance or abandonment. The app’s content is valued, but reliability and calendar accuracy remain key concerns for most users.
