Future Road Builders

Future Road Builders is an interactive, virtual pre-apprenticeship that introduces players to highway construction careers. Through mini-games, videos, and assessment tools, users explore the phases of a highway project and discover the skills needed to work as a Carpenter, Concrete Finisher, Skilled Laborer, Heavy Equipment Operator, and Inspector. Players can earn industry-recognized badges and build a Skill Arcade profile to track accomplishments across multiple games.

The extension connects learning to real opportunities by providing links to training and apprenticeship applications, showcasing on‑the‑job videos, and offering aptitude-testing mini-games to help users find the best trade match. Funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Ladders of Opportunity initiative, Future Road Builders helps learners prepare for apprenticeships and launch a career in the construction trades.
