Ankura: Wallscape to Wildscape

Ankura is a platform for recording, tracking, and protecting saplings after they are planted. It helps citizens, volunteers, and organisations maintain clear records of sapling locations and ensure consistent long-term care.

Users can add a sapling by taking a photo, marking its location, and entering basic details. They can return later to update the entry with new images, notes, or health information, building a simple timeline of growth.
The app works reliably even in low-connectivity areas, allowing offline entry and automatic syncing once the phone reconnects. All contributions are visible in one place, and a map view helps users visualise growing green corridors.

Ankura also addresses a major urban issue: self-grown saplings that appear on walls, rooftops, drains, and pavements and are often removed during routine maintenance. The team can hence assess and relocate them before they cause structural damage or die due to neglect by recording such vulnerable plants early. This protects infrastructure while increasing tree cover and supporting local biodiversity.

Ankura makes sapling care easier, more organised, and more impactful, helping more plants survive to become mature trees.
