Setlyr: Moving to the UK

Moving to the UK? Setlyr turns settling in into clear steps, in plain English: your visa account, a GP, a bank account, your National Insurance number, a home, council tax and everything after.

It's written for people arriving on a Skilled Worker, Health and Care, Student or family visa, for people under the EU Settlement Scheme, and for anyone finding their feet in a new country. No jargon and no endless searching: just what to do, in the order it matters, and why.

FREE
• All 250 topics, in plain English: healthcare and registering with a GP, money, tax and National Insurance, renting and council tax, work, your visa and status, getting around, education, British culture and everyday life.
• Cost Planner: estimate your take-home pay, monthly bills and the cash you need up front for your move, at 2026-27 rates. Estimates for planning, not financial advice.
• Search everything, save what you need for later and share any topic.

SETLYR PREMIUM (auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly)
• My Plan: your move in seven stages, from before you fly to fully settled. Up next shows the one thing to do now, and your plan keeps track of what you're waiting on and what's done. It adapts to your situation: renting, working, children or a car.
• Step-by-step guides with checklists: hundreds of tickable guides for real UK admin, with what to bring, how long it takes and what to do if something goes wrong.
• James AI: our AI assistant, not a person, that runs on Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. It answers your settling-in questions from Setlyr's own topics and guides, then links you to the page that covers it. About 30 questions a week. It asks before sending anything, and you can report any answer. Like any AI it can get things wrong, and it gives general information, not legal, immigration, financial or medical advice.
• Insider Tips, The Done Thing, Think Like a Local and Key Words: the unwritten rules and everyday phrases that make British life make sense.

BUILT AROUND YOU
Tell Setlyr where you're from, why you're here, your city and where you are in your move. Your plan, your Cost Planner figures and James AI's answers start from there. Every question is optional, your name included.
