AutoTracker

AutoTracker is a privacy-first trip tracker that records your route, speed, distance, and altitude and shows everything on a map. It was built for the car, but thanks to adaptive GPS filtering it works just as well for cycling and walking.

All your data stays on your device. No ads, no accounts, no sharing with third parties.

KEY FEATURES
- Trip logging: start, stop, pause, and resume. Recording continues in the background and with the screen off.
- Accurate route: a real-time Kalman filter smooths GPS and automatically adapts to how you move — on foot, by bike, or by car.
- Live statistics: current and average speed, elapsed time, distance travelled.
- Raw-first data: the app stores the original GPS measurements and applies smoothing only when displaying, so tracks can be re-processed later without losing quality.
- History smoothing: choose between a Kalman (RTS) or Savitzky–Golay filter.
- Maps: two engines — MapLibre (vector tiles) and OpenStreetMap. Tile caching, light/dark theme, route colouring by speed.
- Trip history: list, per-trip details on the map, rename, and merge several trips into one.
- Charts: speed and fuel consumption per trip.
- KML export for Google Earth and other tools.
- Backup and restore of all your data, including on a schedule.

FOR THE CAR (optional)
- Fuel consumption via an OBD-II (ELM327) Bluetooth adapter: petrol (MAF) and diesel (fuel rate). Turned off by default.
- For car head units: automatic start and stop of recording with the ignition (ACC) and autostart after boot.

FOR CYCLING AND WALKING
- The coordinate filter automatically switches to a "softer" mode at low speed, giving a smooth track without jitter and suppressing GPS drift while you stand still.
- Accurate distance, speed, and elevation profile make it a good fit for walks, runs, and bike rides.

PRIVACY
- Your trips and location data never leave the device. The only network requests are map tiles from the provider you choose, purely to draw the map.

PERMISSIONS
- Location, including in the background — so a trip keeps recording when the screen is off or another app is open.
- Bluetooth — used only to connect an OBD-II adapter (optional).
