Review summary
Pros
- Classic Shining Force games are well-loved and faithfully ported to mobile, offering nostalgic enjoyment.
- Minimal and unintrusive ads in the unpaid version, with an option to purchase ad-free for $5.
- Game graphics and pixel-perfect scaling are appreciated.
- Gameplay is smooth and the games themselves remain engaging and strategic.
Cons
- Save system is unreliable, requiring internet connection and Google Play sign-in, often failing to save progress.
- Ads are mandatory for saving in free version and sometimes fail to load, causing progress loss and frustration.
- Virtual D-Pad controls are poor, prioritizing diagonal inputs and making navigation and cheat codes difficult.
- App experiences frequent crashes, freezes, and sign-in issues, particularly when offline or with bad connections.
- Local save requires a subscription or internet connection; ad-free version still sometimes has ads or requires sign-in repeatedly.

| 2025-01-18 | Disappointing! The cloud save is unreliable. The wheel just keeps spinning, and I can't even go back into the game to try again. A subscription is required for local save. I'd be fine watching a commercial each time I need to save or load, but the progress circle will just keep spinning forever. No RPG is worth playing if you can't save. Even when it does connect to Google it doesn't save. Please fix this issue, and I'll gladly update this review. Update 1-18-25: still no update and no response. | ||

| 2024-12-21 | D-Pad is terrible. Really slows down the game. I had extra credit so I went ad free right away and highly regret it. Save system requires a connection and even the game loading seems to chug if you aren't on a decent connection. Makes no sense for an offline game. I can understand needing to load ads, but considering I paid to remove ads I expect to be able to play offline. Edit: D-Pad issue can be helped by adjusting size. Not adding any stars though because the sign in issues persist | ||
