Lumber Calculator works out the board feet, volume, and cost of a lumber order in seconds — straight from the thickness, width, length, quantity, and price you enter. It runs completely offline and nothing you type ever leaves your phone.

HOW IT WORKS
Board feet are the standard unit for buying hardwood and softwood lumber. The app uses the published formula:

board feet (one board) = (thickness in inches × width in inches × length in feet) ÷ 12

The twelve is there because one board foot is a piece 1 inch thick, 12 inches wide and 1 foot long — 144 cubic inches, or one twelfth of a cubic foot. For example, a 2 × 4 that is 8 feet long is (2 × 4 × 8) ÷ 12 = 5.33 board feet. Multiply by the number of boards for the total, then by the price per board foot for the cost.
