Our solution provides a platform for SMBs to publish sale events and our app allows end users to create a subscription to specific items they are interested in. We then take those subscriptions and search our database of publish sale events. The search is user controlled and proximity based, if the item (subscription) is apart of any sale events within the set proximity a notification is sent to the user's phone with information on the sale event and the option to navigate to the sale or save for later. Using GPS, every time the user travels out side of the search radius (eg. every 10km) the results are recalculated and presented to the user. You could be a visitor to city and find something on sale you were looking for and could not find where you live.
