Frozen Puck Defender

Frozen Puck Defender is a conceptual arcade sports experience set on a professional ice hockey rink, where the chilly atmosphere of the arena is complemented by the calm background of a fisherman engaged in winter fishing. The core gameplay is presented on a horizontal field featuring two sets of goals. The player is tasked with protecting their net by controlling a specialized hockey glove, using it to intercept and deflect pucks that fly across the ice. The primary objective is to maintain control of the field, preventing the puck from entering the player's goal while attempting to strike it back toward the opponent's side.

Success in Frozen Puck Defender is determined by a combination of reflexes and endurance. The player begins each session with a total of 5 lives, which represent the allowance for missed pucks. Every time a puck bypasses the player's defense and enters their goal, one life is deducted. The game session continues until the life counter reaches zero. To track performance and encourage improvement, the system continuously monitors the duration of the round and the total number of pucks successfully sent into the opponent's goal. Upon the conclusion of a match, these statistics are recorded and added to the local high-score table, allowing for the consistent tracking of personal achievements.

The technical framework of Frozen Puck Defender includes a robust state-management system to ensure a seamless user experience. If the application is minimized or the user switches to another task, the game automatically triggers a pause state and displays a dedicated pause window. This mechanic ensures that no progress or lives are lost during external interruptions. Once the user returns to the application, they must manually close the pause window to resume the active defense of their goal. The project combines the focused intensity of hockey goaltending with a steady progression system, emphasizing timing, coordination, and high-score optimization within a serene winter setting.
