RidersOn

RidersOn is for people who ride motorcycles together.

A group ride is organised in a chat thread, and a chat thread forgets. Who is coming, where you are meeting, which petrol station, who is leading, who is at the back, and whether the rider who was behind you ten minutes ago is still behind you. RidersOn is the app for the part that happens after the plan.


PLAN THE RIDE

Set a day, a time, a meeting point and the stops along the way. Invite friends by name, or a whole club at once. Everybody answers, and the list of who is actually coming is a list, not a scroll.

At the meeting point, hold up a QR code. Anyone who scans it joins — they do not need to be in your contacts, and they do not need the app yet.


HAND SIGNALS, CARRIED BOTH WAYS

Twenty-one of the signals riders already use, drawn and animated. Press one and it lands in front of everybody on the ride: one word, a few seconds, then gone.

A hand signal only travels forwards. The captain at the front is seen by everybody; the rider at the back is seen by nobody. So the ride names a captain and a sweeper, and the sweeper gets the three signals no arm can make — all clear, someone has dropped back, someone has stopped. Anybody on the ride can ask for fuel, a rest, or help.

Every signal arrives in the name of whoever sent it, because "slow down" from the front and "slow down" from the back mean different things.


SEE EACH OTHER

Show yourself to the riders on your ride, or to the people and groups you choose, and nobody else. Each rider shows themselves; nobody can put anybody else on the map. Check in when you stop so the others know where you are sitting.


RECORD THE ROUTE

Press record and the app keeps your route, your distance and your riding time. Your track is yours alone — the other riders cannot see it and neither can whoever organised the ride.

While it records, the stops list shows how far you are from the next one and how much of the ride is left. Afterwards you get the line on a map and a card you can post.

And if you stop and do not start again, the app asks whether you are all right. No answer in a minute, and it tells the riders on your ride that you have stopped, and where. They are the people who can reach you.


SHARE WHERE YOU ARE, AND WHERE YOU WENT

Send a link to whoever is waiting at home. It opens a page showing where you are, with no app and no account. It ends on its own after eight hours and you can stop it at any moment.

Send a route to a friend who was not there. One tap turns it into a ride of their own, with the meeting point and every stop already filled in.


THE REST

A garage with your motorcycles and their factory specifications. Clubs with their own chat. Direct messages. Weather at the meeting point and at every stop. Advice chosen for the bike you ride.


HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT DOES

Location is off by default. Nothing is recorded unless you press record, and while it records a notification stays in your shade saying so, which also stops it. Recording ends when the ride does, and after six hours at the latest.

RidersOn is not a crash detector and does not claim to be. It notices that you have stopped moving, which is a far weaker thing, and it tells the people riding with you rather than an emergency service.
