RestoMama Displays

RestoMama Displays turns an Android TV, HDMI stick or set-top box into a digital menu board that stays in step with your kitchen.

It is the screen half of the Displays module in the restaurant management platform it belongs to. The board on your wall is built from the same menu your staff already edit every day, so a price change or a sold-out toggle made on a phone reaches the TV in seconds.

SET UP IN THREE STEPS

1. Install the app on the TV and open it. It shows a six-character pairing code, large enough to read from across the room.
2. In your admin console, open Displays, choose Pair a TV, and type that code in.
3. Pick the board this screen should play. It starts within seconds.

There is no account to sign into on the TV and no keyboard to fight with. Once a screen is paired you can leave the remote in a drawer.

LIVE MENU BOARDS

- Item names, descriptions, photos and prices come straight from your existing menu. There is no second menu to maintain.
- Mark an item sold out and the screen grays it out within seconds. Put it back and it returns. Or set the board to drop sold-out items and reflow around them.
- Grid and list templates: a photo-forward counter board, or a dense text board for drive-thru and wall menus.
- Long menus paginate and rotate on a timer, so a hundred items still fit on one screen.
- Your logo and brand colors, applied to the whole board.

IMAGES AND VIDEO TOO

A board is a playlist. Alongside its menu pages it can carry promotional stills and video clips, which play after a full menu cycle so the menu is always seen first. Every page holds for the same rotation interval, set once on the board rather than per slide. Videos are transcoded for TV playback, and the app downloads stills and clips to the TV in the background — once a file has landed the screen plays it from local storage rather than over the network in front of a queue.

IT KEEPS PLAYING WHEN THE INTERNET DOES NOT

The last board the TV received is stored on the device: every item, price and sold-out state, plus the promotional stills and clips it plays. If the broadband drops, the router reboots overnight, or the shop opens before the connection is back, the screen carries on showing it instead of an error page. Item photos are still fetched over the network, so those cards may sit empty until it returns. When it does, the app catches up on its own. After a power cut it restarts and goes straight back to the board without anyone pressing a button.

BUILT FOR INDIA

- FSSAI veg and non-veg marks on every item you have marked as one or the other, in the regulation green and brown. An unmarked item shows no mark rather than a guess.
- An FSSAI license number strip along the footer, once your license number is on file. Both this and the veg marks are per-board switches, on by default.
- Prices in rupees, formatted the way your customers read them.

MADE TO BE LEFT ALONE

- Starts automatically when the TV powers on.
- A watchdog notices a stalled screen and recovers it.
- An installer PIN stops staff exiting the board by accident.
- A setup checklist walks whoever mounts the screen through the Android TV settings that matter.

MANAGE EVERY SCREEN FROM ONE PLACE

The admin console shows each paired display, what it is playing, and when it last checked in, for each of your outlets. Change the board on one screen or on all of them, and the change lands without a site visit.

WHAT YOU NEED

- An active subscription with the Displays module enabled.
- An Android TV device running Android 8.0 or later.
- A network connection for pairing and for menu updates. Playback continues without one.

This app is not useful on its own. It is a companion to that subscription and does nothing until a screen is paired to it. If you are not a customer yet, start at restomama.com.
