René's Hideout

Somewhere out there, a clue is waiting. Sometimes it's behind a tree. Sometimes it's behind a riddle you can solve from your couch. Sometimes it's both, and that's when things get interesting. René already solved it. He's smug about it.

René's Hideout is a treasure hunt platform with a minimal-rules philosophy: real clues, real puzzles, and as little hand-holding as we can get away with.

Hunts come in various flavors:
– In the wild — walk, cycle, or wander through real places. Landmarks, neighborhoods, hidden corners, the bench where something happened once.
– From your couch — digital escape rooms, logic puzzles, riddles, ciphers. No shoes required.
– A gruesome combination — hunts that send you outside to find a clue, then back inside to crack it. Then outside again. René finds this hilarious.

For players:
– Discover hunts on a map, in a list, or by mood (got 20 minutes? got a whole Saturday?)
– Solve at your own pace, solo or with friends
– Quick lunch-break puzzles to full-day adventures
– No rules that exist just to have rules

For creators:
– Build hunts with a rich editor — text, images, gps tracks, html puzzles, the whole kit
– Drop clues anywhere on a real map, or anywhere inside a puzzle
– Your imagination is the limit: unlock clues the way YOU want — by location, proximity, time, codes, or any combination
– Reveal information in tiers: first a crumb, then the dish
– Mix physical and digital however you want
– Share with a team, a class, a wedding party, a city, the entire internet

About the soft launch:
We're easing in. A curated set of hunts is live now, with new ones added from time to time. If you build something good, we'll happily add it to the rotation. If you build something great, René will pretend he already knew the answer.
Free for now but only God knows for how long - and René of course.
