Features & Capabilities

CapySSH - Secure Shell Client

CapySSH is a native Android SSH terminal built around one idea: your session should survive the real world. Lock your screen, lose signal, switch apps, walk away from your desk - CapySSH keeps your work alive and picks up right where you left off.

PERSISTENT SESSIONS
Every connection runs inside tmux, so your shell keeps running on the server even if your phone disconnects. Reopen the app and reattach instantly - your scrollback, running processes, and terminal state are exactly as you left them.

CONNECTS DIRECTLY, NO EXTRA SOFTWARE
CapySSH talks straight to your existing SSH server. There's nothing to install on the server side, no companion daemon, no cloud relay - just a direct, encrypted connection to servers you already control.

FLEXIBLE, SECURE AUTHENTICATION
Connect with a password or an SSH key. Import an existing private key, or generate a new Ed25519 keypair right on your device and copy the public key straight to your clipboard for the server's authorized_keys. Encrypted keys and passphrases are fully supported. Saved credentials are stored using Android's encrypted storage, never in plain text.

FULL SFTP FILE BROWSER
Browse, upload, download, rename, and manage remote files without leaving the app. Elevated (sudo) permissions are supported for files that need it.

BUILT-IN EDITOR WITH LIVE PREVIEW
Open remote files directly for quick edits, with syntax highlighting for code. Markdown and HTML files render live in-app, so you can read a README or check a page without switching tools.

MADE FOR REAL TERMINAL WORK
- Full xterm-compatible terminal
- Customisable virtual key row (Ctrl, Esc, Tab, arrows, and more)
- Command shortcuts for the things you type constantly
- Quick Starts - one tap to launch a saved host, folder, and command together
- Connect to two servers at once and switch between them
- Automatic reconnect with a keep-alive service, so sessions survive brief drops even with the screen off

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
CapySSH has no ad network, no analytics, and no account to sign up for. Your connection details never leave your device except to talk directly to the server you configured. Full details in our privacy policy.

Whether you're checking on a home server, managing a VPS, or doing real work from your phone, CapySSH is built to feel like a proper terminal, not a compromise.
