ReadTape: Read Aloud Recorder

Some nights you can't be there for the bedtime story. ReadTape lets you record it anyway.

Record yourself reading a book out loud, and your child can play that bedtime story back any night — in your voice. Grandparents can record from another city, another country, another time zone. Every recording stays in your family's library, so a story you read once can be played a hundred times.

RECORD BEDTIME STORIES IN YOUR OWN VOICE
Read a book aloud and record it, chapter by chapter. Scan the cover and pages with your camera so each recording is tied to the real book. The finished recording plays like an audiobook, with lock-screen controls, so a child can listen without holding the phone.

FOR THE NIGHTS YOUR FAMILY IS APART
Work travel. A long hospital stay. A deployment. A grandparent eleven hours ahead. ReadTape is built for families who don't always get to be in the same room at bedtime — so the bedtime story still happens.

A READING LOG FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
ReadTape is also a reading log. Track who read, for how long, and which books, for everyone in the household. Reading minutes add up into streaks and simple charts, which makes the weekly school reading log much less of a Sunday-night scramble. Families who homeschool can use the same reading log to keep records across the year.

SCAN YOUR BOOKS
Add books by scanning the cover with your camera. Your family's library builds itself as you read, and every book carries its own recordings and reading history.

BUILT FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS
Parents, grandparents, and other adult family members share one family library. Everyone's recordings and reading history live in the same place — on Android, iPhone, and the web.
