RayRemote Android

RayRemote

Use your phone as a virtual remote keypad for Raymarine WiFi enabled MFDs.

Features & Capabilities

RayRemote is a handy Chrome extension that allows you to use your phone as a virtual remote keypad for Raymarine multifunction displays (MFDs) with WiFi capabilities. Compatible with Android and Kindle Fire devices running version 2.2.2 or later, and requiring MFD software version 3.15+, RayRemote emulates the keypad interface, enabling effortless control of all MFD functions through a large, full-screen keypad. It supports all third-generation c-Series, e-Series, g-S, WiFi-enabled a-Series models, and the entire Axiom range.

The extension also features a viewing mode that mirrors the MFD display on your device, providing seamless interaction. Installation involves connecting your mobile device to the MFD's WiFi and launching the app to mirror and control your MFD remotely. Note that while RayRemote can run on tablets, it is optimized for smartphones, and autopilot activation or deactivation is not supported via the mobile device.

User Reviews

Users find RayRemote app outdated and incompatible with newer Android devices, causing frequent connection problems and poor remote control functionality, especially on touch screen chart plotters. Although it allows basic screen viewing and waypoint advancement, it suffers from lag, limited controls, and a lack of updates since 2017. While some appreciate its initial ease of use and ability to interact with navigation data, many express disappointment with its inadequate features and call for significant improvements.
Pros
  • Allows viewing screen of Raymarine chart plotters remotely
  • Basic functions such as advancing waypoints work to some extent
  • Useful for watching and interacting with weather, navigation, radar, fish finder, video, and audio remotely
  • Easy to install and use initially on some devices
Cons
  • App is outdated and has not been updated since 2017, causing compatibility issues with newer Android devices
  • Poor remote control functionality, especially with touch screen MFDs like Axiom; requires user to look at the actual screen
  • Connection issues and lag between plotter and app
  • Limited control capabilities; cannot fully control autopilot or other advanced functions remotely
  • Fails license checks and lacks support for Bluetooth pairing

Seems nobody is liking this app but I installed it to use on my Axiom. Ok its a little hooky but works fine for advancing my AP to next WP. Software Freemantle, phone S-21 as of 8-31 app no longer working, time for an update. Had updated to Guadalupe when it stopped working
