Rare Places

Some places will get you. Not because everyone knows them – but because almost no one knows them.

Rare Places is a map of over 250 carefully selected places in the Czech Republic and Slovakia that are worth visiting. Lookout towers with unusual architecture, chapels in the middle of fields, footbridges, forest saunas and bus stops where you will be happy to wait. No crowds, no tourist traps. Just places with a story – and a reason why they are where they are.

What you will find in the application:
• Over 250 places on the map, which we are constantly expanding
• Filtering by category – views and lookout towers, churches and chapels, where to sleep, where to eat and drink, culture, activities
• Selection by region
• Saving favorite places so you don't miss a single tip
• Ticking off visited places – collect experiences, not just photos
• Descriptions written in a human way, without architectural jargon
The application is and will always be free.

We give access to it to people from our Rare Places community – those who support our project and want to discover with us. No subscription, no hidden fees.

Rare Places was created in 2020. Today it is a guide followed by tens of thousands of people, pocket books "Pocket Guide" and this map.

We only choose places that we would like to go to ourselves.

Open the map, find the nearest unusual place and set off. Maybe something is waiting just around the corner that you have only driven past.
