User Reviews

QmailClient offers a promising approach with seamless integration of email storage on QNAP NAS, making it a simple and effective tool for managing multiple accounts. However, multiple users report serious stability issues like frequent app crashes, connection loss to NAS, and email backup problems. Additionally, the app lacks common features like easy email deletion, alert notifications, and formatted text support. Technical support is often unhelpful, and privacy concerns arise from remote NAS access. Overall, the app shows potential but is not yet ready to replace established email clients.
Pros
  • Ability to store and access emails on QNAP NAS, providing control over email storage.
  • Simple and easy to use interface that manages multiple email accounts effectively.
  • Potential and promise as an evolving email client with good integration with QNAP features like Qsirch.
  • Good backup concept for emails on NAS, enhancing email management.
  • Early-stage app with ongoing development and improvements expected.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and stability issues, including losing connection to NAS and app crashes leading to data loss.
  • Poor technical support with unresolved issues and privacy concerns due to remote NAS access by support.
  • Email backup on NAS sometimes lacks content or shows errors, making backup unreliable.
  • Lack of basic email client features such as easy email deletion and notification alerts on new emails.
  • Usability issues such as sign-in taking too long, emails too large for screen, and lack of formatted text or link recognition when composing emails.

So far it's really good. Way better than Gmail and outlook.

I wanted to use QmailClient as my main email platform, specially because I can store emails on my QNAP NAS and have access to them on my mobile (for emails no longer stored on the mail server). However: 1. Sometimes QmailClient will stop receiving emails for no reason; 2. Emails backed-up on NAS, have no contents, shows error; 3. Technical support will just drive you in circles without any solutions. This app is not ready to be launched. QNAP should not use customers as debugging testers.
