Features & Capabilities

TetherFuseNet enables sharing your Android device's Internet connection without root by creating a long-running Wi-Fi Direct network via a foreground service. It uses a Wi-Fi Direct legacy group and an HTTP proxy so connected devices can access the Internet through the proxy.

It's open source and privacy-friendly: the project is developed in the open on GitHub, and there is no data tracking or selling. In-app purchases are optional to support the developer. The app is a work in progress; some services may not work yet, and the wiki lists known-not-working apps.

User Reviews

Overall sentiment is strongly positive. Users report it works well, is open-source and ad-free, and is easy to set up with helpful in-app instructions. It provides reliable tethering via Wi‑Fi Direct and USB, and includes useful proxy support. However, some apps and VPNs (notably Roblox/Steam and Plex) may not work consistently, and there are intermittent connectivity issues in certain setups. Linux users note a less seamless experience requiring manual configuration. Despite these caveats, many reviewers praise the app as fast, practical, and cost-effective.
Pros
  • Reliable tethering that works as described for general internet use.
  • Open-source and ad-free; strong developer/community support.
  • Easy to set up with in-app guided instructions and helpful proxy configuration.
  • Supports Wi-Fi Direct and USB tethering; works across Windows and other platforms.
  • Proxy support with straightforward manual proxy setup.
Cons
  • Incompatibility with certain apps/games and VPNs (notably Roblox, Steam, Plex) leading to connection errors or workarounds.
  • Intermittent connectivity issues in certain setups: sometimes the SSID isn’t found or connections drop (including after updates or with the screen off).
  • Linux cross-platform limitations: requires manual configuration or file edits, not a one-click experience.

PrismLauncher still gets hung up on the client.jar file but everything else works pretty well, and browers are practically seamless.
