There are many archival sources and Internet resources to get acquainted with the history and life of the city of Kharkov. But it is convenient to study this kind of information at home, sitting at the computer, and in this case it is difficult to trace the connection between the historical and modern infrastructure of the city. Other disadvantages of this method are also obvious: a lot of time spent searching for the necessary information, lack of access to archival data for each of the objects, especially during a walk.

In the "KharkivHeritage" project, we tried to solve these problems and provide smartphone or tablet users with real-time access to photos and text information on more than 120 city objects (about 1,300 illustrations).

"KharkivHeritage" covers a collection of historical objects of the city of Kharkov of the 19th and 20th centuries with photographs and descriptions. For example, the application database includes such objects as: the building of the Noble Assembly, the house of the “Golden Fish”, Sumy Market, Prison Castle, “House of Diligence”, Temple of the Holy Spirit, Mussoorie Circus Theater, “House with Chimeras”, Kharkov Stock Exchange and other.

Many buildings have not survived to this day, only photographs, archival materials and memories of contemporaries remain, however, some houses exist, but under different names and with a different purpose. Therefore, all “KharkivHeritage” objects are linked to the coordinates of the electronic map of the city, which makes it possible to compare their historical appearance and purpose with modern ones.

The application will be useful to Kharkov residents and guests of the city, and for it to work you will need:
- constant Internet access (Wi-fi, 3G, 4G);
- OS Android (version 4.1 and higher).

To open information on an object, click on the marker and then on its name. The menu also has a list of all objects, a gallery mode and other functions.
