PotatoCharge connects electric vehicle drivers with the neighbours who have a charger at home. Book a slot, or charge without booking on an open-access charger, and pay for what you used.

FOR DRIVERS

You live in a flat, your employer never installed a charger, or you are passing through. The map shows the chargers open around you, at private homes, with the price per kWh the host has set.

Your charger works a few hours a day. Open the rest to your neighbours.

• You set your price and your availability
• Recurring slots: every night from 10 pm to 7 am, for instance
• Connected charger: PotatoCharge controls it remotely. Charges start and stop without you, the charger reports the kWh, you do not need to be there
• Open access: open your charger without booking, print its sign with a QR code, follow and stop ongoing charges from the app
• Non-connected charger: you accept each request, and timestamped photos document every charge
• Automatic payouts through Stripe Connect
• Earnings overview and accounting export
• No hardware to add: the charger you already own is enough

HOW IT WORKS

1. The driver finds a charger on the map
2. They book a slot, or, if the charger is open access, they go there and start on site
3. On a connected charger, charging starts from the app and the charger counts the kWh. Elsewhere, the driver photographs the battery level on arrival and before leaving
4. Consumption is worked out, payment follows
5. The host receives their payout

WHY

Public charging is expensive, and busy exactly when you need it. Meanwhile, the tens of thousands of chargers installed at private homes over the past few years sit idle most of the day. A kWh sent back to the grid earns almost nothing for whoever produced it. That same kWh, shared with a neighbour, is worth what the host decides to ask for it.
