IamResponding (IaR) Android

IamResponding (IaR)

Companion app for the IamResponding.com system.

Features & Capabilities

IamResponding IaR is a companion feature of the IamResponding system, bringing core capabilities to mobile in the field. It helps first responders—fire, EMS, police, and other incident teams—know who’s responding, where they’re headed, and when. The app complements CAD-based incident notifications, live pager audio, duty crew scheduling, inter-agency messaging, live chat, incident mapping with directions, mutual aid connections, pre-plans, customized displays, and NFIRS reporting.

Wear OS support provides real-time incident alerts, access to CAD details and historical data, and the ability to respond to incidents directly from the wrist. To ensure full functionality, please consult your department’s QUICK START GUIDE. A current IamResponding subscription is required, and technical issues are handled via Support Tickets rather than public reviews. If dispatch messages aren’t processed through your department system, admins can configure this via Support Tickets.

User Reviews

Users praise IAR for helping first responders and its overall ease of use, but reliability and stability are repeated concerns. Key issues include delayed/missed notifications and missing sounds, frequent crashes, confusing navigation and limited customization, login problems, and regressions after updates. If these core reliability and UX problems are addressed, the app could serve as a robust emergency tool.
Pros
  • Strong usefulness for first responders in emergencies.
  • General usefulness and positive reception across reviews (works great, I like the app, great help).
  • Useful when paging/radio is not available or convenient.
  • Easy to use with clear information.
Cons
  • Notification reliability issues: missed alerts, long delays, and missing notification sounds.
  • App instability: frequent crashes and 'app isn't responding' issues.
  • Poor UX/navigation and lack of customization, making it hard to access information.
  • Login/authentication problems and being logged out.
  • Update-related regressions that break features or workflows.
Recent reviews

Support is always very prompt. There design team even uses the feedback you give them. IAR now works with Android Auto. It also works with watches. If you use Glory Fit you may need to unbined you device and then bind it again if IAR doesn't show up in the software push list. The location tracking is a great feature for knowing where other responders are.
