NearMe – Help near.

NearMe is a personal and family safety app with an SOS button that helps you quickly notify nearby people and loved ones about a situation.

If you feel unwell, find yourself in a dangerous situation, or urgently need help, press SOS. After 10 seconds, the alarm becomes active, appears on the map, and nearby NearMe users receive a notification.

Nearby users can see the scene and respond to the alarm.

📍 Help from People Nearby

The main idea behind NearMe is simple:

Sometimes someone who can help is much closer than your family or friends.

That's why NearMe uses geolocation to notify active users of nearby SOS messages.

The notification radius depends on the plan and can be up to 1,000 meters.

The exact location of regular users is not publicly displayed on the general map.

The main screen displays the number of active NearMe users nearby.

You can see if there are other NearMe members nearby without revealing their exact location on the general map.

NearMe can alert you to an active SOS nearby.

If you can help, you decide how to respond.

The following reactions are available:

• Check
• Called emergency services
• Don't see
• False alarm

NearMe does not require the user to put themselves in danger. In serious situations, contact official emergency services.

👨‍👩‍👧 Alert your loved ones via SMS

The "Family" and "Group" plans allow you to pre-add up to three phone numbers of your loved ones.

When an SOS occurs, the app can send them an SMS:

"SOS! I need help. I'm here:"
and a Google Maps link with your location.

The recipient of the SMS doesn't need to install NearMe to share their location.

This feature requires an Android device, SMS permission, and pre-added numbers.

NearMe doesn't automatically read your contacts—you add your loved ones' numbers yourself.

🗺 Private groups on the map

The "Group" plan allows you to create up to three private groups.

Invite family members, friends, neighbors, colleagues, or team members via a link.

Members of a private group can see each other's locations within a private layer of the map and communicate in a private chat.

Private groups are separate from the shared NearMe map.

💬 Add a comment to an SOS

Paid plans allow you to add a comment to your alarm to provide nearby people with additional information about the situation.

🛡 False Alarm Protection

NearMe uses several mechanisms to prevent accidental and false SOSs.

After pressing an SOS, you have 10 seconds to cancel it.

Users close enough to the incident can report a false alarm. The system also uses restrictions and strikes to prevent abuse.

🌙 Background Operation

Background geolocation helps NearMe maintain its current location and notify users if they are near an active SOS.

For this feature to work correctly, you must grant the appropriate permission and allow NearMe to run in the background.
