Turtle Patrol

The official member and volunteer portal for the Turtle Patrol initiative, conducted by The Pearl Protectors — Sri Lanka’s leading marine conservation organization.

The Turtle Patrol app empowers dedicated volunteers and conservationists to protect endangered sea turtles along the coastlines of Sri Lanka. Built specifically for field operations, this app enables patrol teams to coordinate night patrols, record scientific nesting data in real time, and protect vulnerable nesting sites and hatchlings.

KEY FEATURES:

🐢 Sighting & Nesting Data Collection
• Accurately record sea turtle nesting activities, species identification, and biological observations.
• Log egg counts, nest depth, carapace measurements, and ex-situ/in-situ relocation details.
• Track emergence dates and successful hatchling releases back into the ocean.
• Capture photo documentation for turtle identification and habitat monitoring.

📍 GPS Mapping & Geolocation
• Tag exact nest and sighting coordinates with integrated GPS mapping.
• View active patrol zones, recent nesting activity, and hatchling release points across coastal patrol sectors.

🚶 Live Patrol Session Management
• Initiate and coordinate patrol sessions with team members in real time.
• View ongoing patrols, active volunteers on duty, and session logs across Sri Lanka.
• Record weather conditions, beach erosion, and marine pollution observations during patrols.

🚨 Field Safety & Emergency SOS
• Dedicated volunteer safety system with a rapid SOS emergency alert feature.
• Instantly broadcast real-time location and incident alerts (medical emergencies, injuries, or wildlife threats) to coordinators and fellow patrollers.

📊 Impact Analytics & Community Feed
• Live dashboard showing key conservation metrics: total eggs protected, hatchlings released, and patrol success rates.
• Stay connected with announcements, training events, and community updates from The Pearl Protectors team.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Sri Lanka's shores are vital nesting grounds for five of the world's seven sea turtle species. The Turtle Patrol initiative by The Pearl Protectors focuses on community-driven monitoring, preventing egg poaching, reducing marine debris impacts, and ensuring safe hatchling journeys.

PLEASE NOTE:
This application is designed for registered volunteers, researchers, and field coordinators of The Pearl Protectors' Turtle Patrol project. Account registration requires administrative verification and training approval before field access is granted.
