Industriekultur der Region

An audio guide with stories about industrial culture in Upper Lusatia.

Features & Capabilities

Experience an exciting journey through time with the audio guide with interesting stories and funny anecdotes from industrialization to the present day.
The audio guide leads you along the industrial culture route, which follows the traces of industrial development in the LEADER regions of West Lusatia and Bautzener Oberland. Both regions belong to the Upper Lusatia tourist region.
At selected stations in the participating towns of Demitz-Thumitz, Kirschau, Obergurig (Bautzener Oberland) as well as Bischofswerda, Großröhrsdorf and Pulsnitz (West Lusatia), stories are told about how industry changed and shaped people's lives in Upper Lusatia over the past centuries. You will learn something about economic heydays and crises, about stonemasons, weavers and mechanical engineers, about technical innovations and the improvisational talent of the employees of the GDR's state-owned companies. Exciting information and funny anecdotes are waiting for you.
It is best to use headphones to experience the small, fine nuances of the loving setting of the stories in the best quality.
In each of the participating locations, the stations are accessible by foot, mostly for children too. And if you are not that good on your feet, you can only select individual stations with the help of the integrated map function. The audios at each point of contact work independently of each other, so each station has its own exciting story that lasts a maximum of 6 minutes.
And if you are looking for additional or further information on the individual stations or want to see high-quality films about the participating locations, you will find it on the website www.industriekultur-oberlausitz.de.
In addition to the time for the stories and the walk, you should also allow some time to visit the station, which is open to the public. Please pay attention to the opening times. In addition to these starting points, there are some stations that for various reasons cannot be made accessible to the public. Here the website partly delivers extensive image material so that you can get an impression.
You can download the stories based on their location. That means you don't have to download all the stories at once, you can choose the places that interest you.
Discover some of the many small, industrially important towns and communities in Upper Lusatia. Immerse yourself in the exciting stories that smaller places have to tell in connection with industrialization and be amazed at their importance, even beyond national borders.
