LOC Alarm

LOC Alarm is a personal automation tool designed for firefighters who already receive dispatch SMS messages from their fire department via the official system.

⚠️ IMPORTANT
LOC Alarm is NOT an alert system and does NOT replace the official dispatch system. The app:
• does not generate, directly receive, or forward any official dispatch messages
• does not guarantee the delivery of any notifications
• it merely amplifies dispatch SMS messages and notifications you already receive via official channels (system SMS app, WhatsApp, etc.)

It remains your responsibility to monitor the fire department's official channels and verify each intervention.

🔥 WHAT THE APP DOES

When your phone receives a notification from your default SMS app (Google Messages, Samsung Messages, etc.) or WhatsApp, and the content matches your fire department's dispatch format, LOC Alarm:

• Displays a full-screen alarm screen, even when the phone is locked
• Plays an alarm sound at maximum volume, even if the phone is on silent
• Vibrates with an emergency pattern
• Flashes the camera flash
• Reads the SMS content aloud via text-to-speech (local TTS or Google Cloud TTS)
• Opens Google Maps with the location of the incident
• Creates a calendar event (Google or Microsoft)
• Optionally forwards the SMS to a contact of your choice choice

📋 PREREQUISITES

• Already have an SMS dispatch system from your fire department
• Have set a default SMS app on Android (Google Messages, Samsung Messages, etc.)
• Grant LOC Alarm notification access
• Disable battery optimization for LOC Alarm
• On some manufacturers (Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus), you may need to add LOC Alarm to "protected apps" / "autostart"

🛡️ PRIVACY

LOC Alarm reads notifications from the default SMS app and WhatsApp only to recognize the firefighter's dispatch pattern. The content of the notifications:
• is not transmitted to external servers (unless you enable Google Cloud TTS text-to-speech, in which case only the text to be read is sent to Google)
• is not uploaded to cloud backup (sharedpref and database are excluded from automatic backup)
• is not shared with third parties

If you enable Microsoft Calendar integration, the events created will contain the alarm content—disable the feature if you don't want this.

🚒 WHO IS IT FOR

This app is designed exclusively for militia firefighters in Switzerland (especially the Canton of Ticino) who already receive dispatch SMS messages via their fire department's official system. It is not useful for people who are not part of a fire department or do not already receive these SMS messages.
