TankRate: Tank Mix Calc

TankRate turns the rate printed on a product label into the amount you actually pour into your sprayer.

Set your sprayer up once - its capacity, and the carrier volume it puts out - then add each product with the rate exactly as the label writes it: per acre, per 1,000 sq ft, per 100 gallons, as a percentage by volume, or per tankful. Enter the area you are treating and TankRate works out every full load and the last partial one, each of them measured against what actually goes into it rather than against the tank's capacity.

Every amount comes back in the unit you buy that product in. Fluid ounces, pints, quarts and gallons for liquids; ounces and pounds for dry or granular material. A liquid is never answered as a weight, and a dry product is never answered as a volume. Under each figure is the arithmetic that produced it, so you can check it against the label before anything is poured.

Water is worked out for the load in front of you: what is left of that load once the products go in. A mix containing anything dry gets a fill-to-mark instead of a water figure, because the volume a granule displaces depends on a density that is not printed on the container.

Also included:
• Calibration by the 1/128 method - spray a measured 18.5 ft by 18.5 ft plot, time it, then catch the output for that many seconds. The fluid ounces you catch are your gallons per acre, and one tap writes that figure onto your sprayer.
• An optional price per unit, which adds the cost of each load, the cost of the whole job, and the cost per acre.
• A history of the mixes you save, each one shareable as plain text.

Made for people who mix by the tankful - spray operators, growers, groundskeepers and lawn care crews. Measurements are US customary: acres or thousands of square feet for area, gallons for the tank.

The label is the legal authority, and TankRate says so on every screen that produces a mix. It carries no database of products, labels or permitted rates: it does arithmetic on the numbers you type, and it recommends nothing.

Everything is calculated on the phone, so it works with no signal in the field. There is no account and no sign-in, and your sprayer, your products and your saved mixes are never sent to us. Android's own backup is left switched on, so a copy may reach your Google account and come back when you set up a new phone. TankRate is free to use and is supported by advertising.
