Nomedia is a user-friendly Chrome extension designed to manage .nomedia files on Android devices with ease. These special files tell Android not to scan specified directories for images, videos, or audio, preventing those contents from appearing in your gallery app and helping speed up the device startup process by reducing scan times.

With Nomedia, you can conveniently create or delete .nomedia files by toggling directories on or off. This lets you control which folders' media files remain hidden from the gallery. While Nomedia aids in organizing your media visibility, it is not intended for privacy protection since files are accessible via file managers. The extension respects your privacy, collecting no personal data. Note that due to Android system restrictions (especially Android 11 and 12), .nomedia files cannot be placed in some top-level directories, but subdirectories offer flexibility for hiding media.

Recent reviews

The google file manager for some reason deleted every .nomedia files I tried to create EVEN with the 'Show hidden files' setting on not to mention all the steps I had to go through to make a file and for nothing. This app makes it so easy to do all this and the best part: the files are there and it works.
