Base Plate Designer

Base Plate Designer is a professional engineering calculation tool for the design and analysis of steel column base plates subjected to axial loads, bending moments, and shear forces.

The application supports structural and engineering calculations for column base connections, helping engineers evaluate the interaction between the steel base plate, concrete foundation, and anchor bolts.

The design concept considers the external bending moment as being resisted by a couple consisting of compression bearing between the base plate and concrete and tension in the anchor bolts. For calculation purposes, the base connection can be evaluated by treating a horizontal section through the base plate as an equivalent reinforced-concrete section, with anchor bolts on the tension side acting as reinforcing steel.

Initial tension (pretension) in the anchor bolts is disregarded in the calculation methodology.
