This is an app for measuring lap times for RC cars.
There are measurement modes that use Bluetooth (Bluetooth mode) and measurement modes that use a camera (camera mode).
In Bluetooth mode, the RC car must be equipped with a Bluetooth Low Energy device (hereinafter referred to as a Bluetooth device) as a slave device. Lap times are measured by communicating between this app and the Bluetooth device.
In camera mode, image detection is performed using the rear camera often installed in smartphones. Specifically, it monitors the shooting range, detects when an object (RC car) enters the range, and measures the lap time. However, it only detects objects that come within range, so it also reacts to cats, balls, shadows, etc. Camera mode does not require a Bluetooth device.
Both modes have the same lap time function, only the measurement method is different.

The following Bluetooth devices have been confirmed. Although it is possible to connect with other Bluetooth devices, it may be disconnected after a short period of time depending on the Bluetooth device. When loading the device onto the RC car, please be careful not to damage the device due to falling. Currently, good measurements can be made with M5Stamp, etc., so we are currently considering it. In fact, this may be necessary in practice. Progress is updated on X.

How to use
Launch the app. Permission settings will appear when you start up for the first time, but they are necessary for Bluetooth operation. It is not used for any purpose other than the operation of the app.
When you press the screen ON button, the button changes to screen ON and the screen will not go to sleep. If you press it again, the button will change to screen ON and the screen will go to sleep again. Use this when you are looking at the screen for a long time. This will consume the battery, so if you use it in your pocket etc., please set the screen to sleep.
Selecting the camera icon radio button switches to camera mode, which is a measurement mode using a camera.
Selecting the radio button of the Bluetooth icon switches to Bluetooth mode, which is a measurement mode using Bluetooth.

camera mode
The image threshold is a setting that determines how sensitively the image detection responds to changes in the image. The larger it is, the less sensitive it becomes, and the smaller it is, the more sensitive it becomes. Default is 100.
The Apply button reflects the set image threshold.
The video detection start button starts lap time recording by the camera. While video detection is in progress, the button display changes to "Video detection". If you press the button again in this state, video detection will end.
The video detection end button ends video detection. This button cannot be pressed if video detection is not in progress.
Clear button deletes lap time records.

Bluetooth mode
The RSSI threshold is the signal strength (RSSI value) of the Bluetooth device when performing lap times. If it exceeds this value, measure your lap time. Equivalent to pressing a stopwatch button.
The Apply button will reflect the entered RSSI threshold.
The automatic update checkbox allows you to turn on the function that automatically updates the RSSI threshold. Details will be explained later.
Press the scan button to search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
The search results for Bluetooth devices will be listed, so select the one you want to connect to. The connection will then start and lap time recording will begin. Please note that you cannot start a connection until the scan is finished.
After starting the connection, read the RSSI value at the location you want to measure from the vertical axis of the graph or the selected device...RSSI:XX.
Enter the above RSSI value into the RSSI threshold and press the Apply button. Please note that RSSI values ​​are negative.
If you turn on the automatic update checkbox, the RSSI threshold will be automatically updated every time you record a lap time. Since it is adjusted to the average value of the past 10 records, it will not change drastically for one record. Even if you set the RSSI threshold to a slightly larger value, the value will gradually become just right.
Lap times will be recorded each time you go around the course. At the same time, it will be read out aloud.
Tap the recorded lap time to move to the lap time save screen where you can save the lap time.
The Change Device button ends the connection and measurement and returns to device selection.
Clear button deletes lap time records.
The connect button connects to the Bluetooth device if it is disconnected.
The disconnect button disconnects from the Bluetooth device.

Save lap time
Displays the selected lap time to be saved along with the time.
You can record the circuit and the car body together. These can be registered on the settings screen.
Tap the gear mark at the top right of the screen to go to the settings screen.
You can also record free-text comments.
The save button saves the lap time with the current contents.
Displays a list of saved lap times.
Tap the saved lap time to move to the screen where you can change the saved lap time.
Press the trash can button to delete the lap time.

Lap time editing
You can change the circuit, car body, and notes. If you want to change it, please reselect the circuit etc. and press the update button.
The lap time set button returns you to the main screen and you can display that lap time as your target lap.

setting
For the circuit name, please enter the circuit name to be registered in free text. Register the circuit using the Add button.
Please enter the name of the vehicle to be registered in free text. Register the vehicle body using the Add button.
If you remain in a place where the RSSI threshold is higher than the RSSI threshold for more than that time, the vehicle will be judged as stopped and will not record your lap time.
Ignore lap times less than that time means lap times shorter than that time will be considered invalid and will not be used as lap times.
The update interval is the communication interval in Bluetooth mode. Lowering the value means communicating more frequently; increasing it means communicating less frequently. The smaller the value, the more accurate the measurement. Please note that if the frequency is too high, the Bluetooth device may reset or otherwise disconnect. In camera mode, this is the frequency of video detection. The smaller the value, the more frequently images will be detected, and the larger it is, the less frequently images will be detected. As with Bluetooth mode, the smaller the value, the more accurate the measurement. In either case, higher frequency means higher accuracy at the cost of more power consumption, and lower frequency means lower accuracy at the cost of lower power consumption.

menu
You can move to the settings screen and lap time screen from the menu icon at the top left of the main screen. However, if you go to the lap time screen using this method, you will not be able to save the lap time.
