Pain Coach App

Pain Coach App is a digital health solution (not a regulated medical device) built to help empower patients to create individualized pain management plans with their surgeons and then put those plans into action. It is intended to be used for patient undergoing hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery. Pain Coach App provides educational material that promotes a wholistic approach to post-operative pain control, helping patients to optimize their pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic options after surgery.

Within the app patients are reminded to stay on top of their pain control by tracking their pain and medications consistently. Also available are videos that help to educate about non-pharmacologic therapies that have been previously validated in Orthopedic Surgery patients including breathing exercises, guided imagery and music therapy.

Pain Coach App is intended to help patients navigate issues with pain management after surgery and brings an Opioid Stewardship Lens, helping patients to understand the appropriate use of opioids after surgery and also to help patients identify when it is important to reach out to their healthcare providers for help.

Pain Coach App is currently accessible only through a clinical trial to validate its use in the Orthopedic Surgery Arthroplasty subset of patients before intended expansion to other surgical modalities.
