The Orchard

Orchard is not a chatbot. It is a persistent cognitive architecture.

Most AI interactions are ephemeral: you close the tab, and the model forgets who you are. Orchard solves this by building a structured "Belief Graph" that lives exclusively on your device, turning stateless AI models into a continuous, evolving partner that remembers your history, goals, and contradictions.

YOU OWN THE ORCHARD Orchard is built on a "Local-First" philosophy.

100% Local Storage: Your memories, journal entries, and the AI's "cognitive topology" are stored in an encrypted database on your phone.

No Cloud Sync: We do not have a server. We cannot see your data. If you delete the app, it’s gone forever.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): Orchard is a client. You provide your own API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or connect to a local model (Ollama). You pay the provider directly; we don't mark up your tokens.

FEATURES

The Belief Graph: Orchard doesn't just summarize chats. It extracts distinct "Claims," "Beliefs," and "Doubts" into a structured database, allowing it to cite specific facts from months ago without re-reading the whole conversation.

Temporal Awareness: Unlike standard LLMs, Orchard knows what time it is. It tracks how long it's been since you last spoke, remembers upcoming deadlines, and surfaces memories when they are temporally relevant.

Anti-Echo Architecture: The system is engineered to challenge you, not just agree with you. It uses a multi-stage pipeline to check its own biases and flag "sycophantic" responses before they reach you.

Doubt-Driven Goals: If the system is unsure about a fact, it creates an autonomous "Goal" to ask you about it later, driving its own curiosity.

HOW IT WORKS When you send a message, Orchard:

Retrieves only the relevant memories from your local database.

Injects them into a stateless API call to your chosen provider.

Analyses the response to update its internal graph of your world.

Saves the new state locally.

This allows you to have a years-long, coherent relationship with an AI model that technically has no memory of its own.
