Star Paths: One Line Puzzle

Every constellation in the night sky is a puzzle waiting to be drawn.

Star Paths is a one-line drawing game built on real astronomy. Each level is a
constellation with its real named stars, and your job is to trace the whole
figure in as few strokes as the level allows - without drawing a link twice
unless you have paid for the privilege.

WHY IT IS A PUZZLE AND NOT A MAZE

How many strokes a figure needs is not a design decision. It is a property of
the figure. A shape with exactly two odd junctions can be drawn as one
continuous line, but only if you begin at one of those two stars. Start
anywhere in the bowl of the Big Dipper and you will strand yourself with the
handle still undrawn. Working out where a stroke may legally begin is the first real question every level asks, and the game does not answer it for you.

The ladder opens with three-star figures and ends deep in the southern sky.
Later constellations are squeezed on purpose: you are handed one stroke fewer than the geometry wants, plus a small budget of links you may cross a second time. The puzzle turns into route planning - which strand is worth doubling to fuse two strokes into one?

TWISTS THAT REWRITE THE ROUTE

• One-way strands, marked with a chevron: passable in one direction only
• Prism stars, marked with a diamond: light passes through them, so the thread has to leave roughly the way it came in - no turns
• Doubled strands, drawn as two parallel lines: both have to be traced

Clear a level and it hands over a card: the constellation's name and nickname, its alpha star, its star and link counts, and one real fact. Betelgeuse, the shoulder of Orion. Antares, the rival of Mars. Polaris, sitting almost exactly above the North Pole while the whole sky turns around it. All 88 official constellations are in the collection, and the Milky Way across the background brightens as you clear the ladder.

NO TIMER. NO LIVES. NO PUNISHMENT.

Walk the thread into a dead end and it burns away and the figure resets. You
lose nothing but the thinking - no score is taken back, no life is spent, and
there is no clock anywhere in the game. A level cannot be failed, only solved
well or solved wastefully. Three hints are there when a figure will not give:
which stars are legal openings, one safe next step, and which links a working
plan has to cross twice. Each is unlocked by watching a short ad.

Every star, line, meteor, nebula and glow is drawn by the game as it runs.
There is not a single bitmap in the artwork, so it stays sharp at any screen
size and the whole download stays tiny.
