User Reviews

Users praise HALO - Bluelight Filter for its effective blue light reduction, extensive customization, and clean interface, making it highly useful especially for those sensitive to light or suffering from migraines. However, common complaints include random app shutdowns and scheduling failures, significant battery drain, inability to filter notification areas resulting in bright spots, intrusive full-screen ads, and occasional bugs that affect app responsiveness. Despite some annoyances, many find the free version functional and the app overall beneficial for eye comfort.
Pros
  • Effective blue light filter that helps reduce eye strain and is beneficial for users with light sensitivity and migraines.
  • Multiple customization options for brightness, color temperature, and filter intensity.
  • Clean, simple, and aesthetically pleasing user interface with easy-to-use controls.
  • The free version provides substantial features and good overall functionality.
  • Quick access controls available from notification drop-down menu (though with some issues).
Cons
  • The app often randomly turns off or disables itself, including schedule feature malfunctions.
  • Significant battery drain reported by multiple users when the app is running.
  • Inability to filter or dim notification panels and status bars, leading to bright areas that hurt the eyes.
  • Ads and pop-ups interrupt usage, with full-screen ads reopening the app unexpectedly.
  • Some bugs cause interface unresponsiveness, freezing, and difficulty adjusting controls quickly.
  • Screenshots are affected by the filter, which some users find undesirable.
Recent reviews
The haze effect makes the filter useless. Increasing the tint lowers the contrast of the display, which funnily is really irritating for the eyes and makes the screen look even brighter. But lowering the brightness to counter it makes the effect even worse and text even harder to read.

I love the app and the filters, however I've noticed when I close the app and move to another one, Halo will reopen with a fullscreen ad. I don't particularly enjoy being yanked back into the Halo app each time I try to close it, especially as these ads tend to be quite bright and loud, even with filters on
