Mapio

Mapio turns your phone into the GPS you take to the field. Open a georeferenced map — PDF or GeoTIFF — and you will see yourself standing on it, in real time, with no signal needed.

WHAT IT OPENS
• Georeferenced PDFs (TerraGo GeoPDF and ISO 32000 PDFs with georeferencing).
• TIF, TIFF and GeoTIFF: the drone orthomosaic, the agronomist's image, the survey map.
• Both work the same: same tools, same accuracy.

MEASURE
• Distance and area by tapping the screen.
• Polygons you can fix: drag a vertex, or tap the middle of a side to add one.
• Area by walking the field with GPS.
• Center pivots: center, radius and the fraction of the circle it irrigates.
• Results in hectares, acres, meters or feet — your choice.

MARK
• Points with a name, a note and photos.
• Folders and tags so nothing gets lost between seasons.
• Export points as GPX or CSV.

SAVED FIELDS AND PIVOTS
• Save a field once and use it on every map you own.
• Import the ones you already have as KML, KMZ or shapefile.
• Export them to QGIS, Auravant or the planter monitor.

ONLINE MAP
• OpenStreetMap and high-resolution satellite imagery with your GPS, nothing to import.
• Satellite with town names and roads on top, so you always know what you are looking at.
• Search a town, a hamlet or a ranch by name and the map goes there. Or paste coordinates, which works even with no signal.
• Mark points on the online map, with a name, your own fields and photos, with no PDF open.
• Your map laid over the satellite image, as transparent as you like.

ROTATIONAL GRAZING
• Split the field into equal strips and rotate the fence line where you need it.
• Instant stocking rate in head per hectare and liveweight per hectare.
• Hand-drawn laneway and water point: every paddock with a way out to water, and how far the herd walks.
• Rest and occupation rhythm, or the forage you measured in the field so the app sizes the strip.
• Meters of wire for the strip and for the permanent paddocks. Export the paddocks as KML, KMZ or shapefile.

SATELLITE ZONING
• Up to 5 years of Sentinel-2 imagery analyzed for your field.
• Headland separated from the center, and stability across seasons.
• Variable-rate prescriptions: several products per operation, the rate for each zone and the total to buy.

NO STRINGS
• No accounts, no sign-up, no servers of ours. Nothing of yours is uploaded anywhere.
• Your maps, fields and points stay on the phone.

WHAT NEEDS A SIGNAL AND WHAT DOES NOT
• Offline: opening your maps, locating yourself, measuring, paddock planning, marking points and exporting. That is the everyday use and it needs no data.
• Online: the satellite basemap, the place search and satellite zoning, which downloads Copernicus/Sentinel-2 imagery. Zone before heading out and review it later, already downloaded. Going to pasted coordinates works offline.

MAPIO PRO
The free version includes opening maps, locating yourself, measuring, marking points, saving fields and the online satellite map. Mapio Pro adds satellite zoning, variable-rate prescriptions, grazing paddock planning, import and export, and an ad-free map. Monthly or yearly subscription, cancel from Google Play whenever you want.

PRIVACY
Mapio has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your location is processed on the phone and never transmitted. The app's data is excluded from Google backup, so it is not uploaded to the cloud — the trade-off is that when you switch phones you have to import your maps again. The free version shows Google AdMob ads, and where the law requires it the app asks for your consent before showing the first one.
