Nettle - Wi-Fi & LAN Scanner

Scan your network, identify every connected device, and analyze WiFi channels. Nettle does these three things and nothing else. It runs entirely on your phone, with no account to make and nothing to sign up for.

Open it and it goes to work finding what is on your local network. It does not rely on a single trick. It pings, reads the ARP and NDP neighbour tables, listens for mDNS/Bonjour, SSDP/UPnP, CoAP, NetBIOS, and LLMNR, and does reverse DNS lookups. Using all of these at once means more devices show up, and they show up with more detail.

What Nettle does:

• Finds every connected device and gives you the best name available, the manufacturer from the IEEE OUI registry, and a guess at what it actually is: phone, tablet, laptop, TV, media player, speaker, printer, router, NAS, camera, light, game console, or some other IoT gadget
• Shows each device with its IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, MAC address, open ports, and the services it advertises
• Lets you tap any device to open it up: which discovery methods found it, the vendor, model hints, advertised services and ports, and any HTTP or SSH banners it returned. It is the kind of detail that helps when you are trying to work out what that one mystery box on your network really is
• Lists every nearby WiFi access point with signal strength in dBm, channel, band (2.4, 5, or 6 GHz), security type (WPA2, WPA3, Open, and so on), and router vendor
• Draws a spectrum graph of how the networks around you overlap and suggests the least busy channel, so you can go change your router off whatever everyone else is fighting over

The channels view also has a live signal meter for your own connection. Walk it around the house and watch where the bars drop, then put your router or your desk somewhere better.

A few things you can adjust:

• Light or dark theme
• How aggressive the scan is, and how often it rescans
• Which discovery techniques are on or off, so you can tune the sweep to your network

On privacy, the rule is simple: nothing about your network leaves your phone. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no account. The only thing Nettle ever downloads is the public IEEE vendor list, which is what turns a MAC address into a manufacturer name, and that request says nothing about you or your network.

What Nettle is: a careful network scanner, WiFi analyzer, LAN scanner, and IP scanner that shows you your connected devices and your WiFi channels and signal, clearly and in one place.

What it is not: it does not run in the background, does not watch for new devices or send you alerts, does not keep history or track changes over time, and there is no export or speed test. You run a scan when you want one, and you read the results.
