Negative Chess

Objective: Lose all your chess pieces first to win the game

Play the game of chess exactly like the grandmasters don't. The inverted horse icon symbolizes the reversed spirit of this form of chess. Play against the computer, or find players online to play against. Advance your ratings and your Achievements, track your progress against Leaderboards.

The game also goes by other names, Losing Chess, AntiChess, Reverse Chess, Suicide Chess, Give away chess, Inverse Chess, etc.

Important Rule: If you can capture an opposing piece, you must capture it. Unlike normal chess games, negative chess computes all your moves/kills at each turn, so if you have a mandatory capture it will show you so. The game will not allow you to play an alternate safe move. Think about it this way: The idea of the game is to lose all your pieces, and if both players simply refused to capture any pieces, the game would never end. So it's very important for the game to enforce this rule.

The application assumes knowledge of basic chess moves. However, you don't need to be a chess expert to play the game. Negative chess is a more casual version of chess.

BASIC RULES
-- A player wins by losing all pieces, or with stalemate.
-- Stalemate is a win for the stalemated player.
-- Capturing is compulsory.
-- When more than one capture is available, the player may choose
-- The king has no royal power and accordingly:
- The king may be captured as any other piece.
- There is no check or checkmate.
- There is no castling.
--In addition to its normal promotion options, a pawn may promote to a king.
