neolexon Therapeut:in Aphasie

The neolexon therapy system for treating aphasia and apraxia of speech supports speech therapists in their daily work. With neolexon, individualized exercise materials can be compiled for patients, and speech therapy exercises can be flexibly performed on a tablet or via a web browser on a PC. The app was developed by a team of speech therapists and computer scientists at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and is registered as a medical device.

With the neolexon app, therapists can efficiently create individualized exercise sets for their patients. The following are available:

- 8,400 words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, numerals, and NEW: stock phrases)

- 2,500 sentences

- 116 texts

Exercises can be selected according to the patients' personal interests, semantic fields (e.g., clothing, Christmas, etc.), and linguistic features (e.g., only disyllabic words beginning with the sound /a/).

The app offers the opportunity to practice selected language units with patients during therapy sessions using flexibly adjustable exercises. It trains auditory comprehension, reading comprehension, and oral and written language production. The app also includes a "Picture Cards" function, allowing therapists to conduct free practice exercises with the set.

The difficulty of each exercise can be finely adjusted. For example, the number of distractor images can be set, and it can be determined whether they are semantically similar to the target word. For the "Writing" exercise type, users can choose between gap-fill exercises, anagrams, and free typing using the entire keyboard. Further settings can be found within the app.

Patient responses are automatically recorded and available as graphs – saving valuable time in preparation and documentation. These graphs do not provide information for diagnostic or therapeutic decisions.
