Navratri for 8/10 days
Sharadiya Navratri was 8 days in 1967, 2011, 2012, it will be only 8 days in 2038; It was ten days in 2000 and 2016. Vasantika Navratri was eight days in year 2000 (Ashtami Kshaya), 2015 (Tritiya Kshaya), 2016 (Tritiya Kshaya), 2017 (Pratipada Kshaya) and 2018 (Navmi Kshaya), 2025 (Tritiya Kshaya), 2026 (Pratipada Kshaya). In Sali also it will be 8 days. In the year 2029 (second increase) it will be 10 days.

Vrat- Navratri is a Kamya Vrat. In many families this Vrat has the form of Kulachara. [9] This Vrat begins with Ashwin Shuddha Pratipadas. An altar is prepared there. Then, with swastika, they install the octagonal goddess on that altar. If there is no idol, the navarna installs the yantra. A ghata is erected next to the Yantra and worship is done to him and the goddess. A fasting person has to fast for nine days by fasting or fasting. This fast lasts till Ashwin Suddha Navami. In this Vrat, Saptashati is recited for nine days, continuous lamps are lit. [10] A garland is tied daily on Ghata or in ascending order. Rarely do homhavan and sacrifice. [11] Every day for nine days they worship the virgin and feed her. Finally, the Ghat and Devi are established. [12] In some families, the practice of tying the Goddess with a rope is also prevalent.
Nine Forms of Goddess
The shakti form deified as the deity of all the gods received the name Devi, and the Shakta sect glorified her as the supreme deity, Adimaya, or Jagadamba. There are two forms of the goddess, fierce and gentle. Uma, Gauri, Parvati, Jagdamba, Bhavani are the names of the gentle forms of the goddess and Durga, Kali, Chandi, Bhairavi, Chamunda are the fierce forms of the goddess.[12]

These are the nine forms of the goddess.[13]

It is said in Devi Mahatma in Markandeya Purana- “If one listens to Devi Mahatma with devotion during the annual Maha Puja in autumn, one is freed from all bondages and becomes full of wealth. (89.11.12)

Navratri is the season of change. This gives us new energy, new enthusiasm, hope. According to the Bhart Samhita, the changes in the Sun and other planets have an effect on the health and affairs of a person. Transformation in the creation is a game of power. Celibacy, moderation, worship, sacrifices increase the immunity power in the body. Memory improves and intellectual development takes place. Hence Navratri is believed to be a time of physical and spiritual purity.[14]
