Shia Prayer Times & Qibla

Accurate Shia (Ja'fari) prayer times, computed on your phone.

Namaz calculates prayer times from your coordinates using published astronomical methods — the same Jean Meeus solar algorithms used by observatories. Nothing is looked up, downloaded, or synced. The times are correct in airplane mode, in a basement, on a plane, or on a phone with no Google services at all.

WORKS WITHOUT THE INTERNET — LITERALLY.

This app does not request the INTERNET permission. Not "we don't collect much" — the app has no way to send anything anywhere. You can check this yourself in the app's permission list before you install. Your location never leaves your phone, because there is nowhere for it to go.

There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, and no ads.

BUILT FOR SHIA PRACTICE, NOT ADAPTED FOR IT

Most prayer apps treat Ja'fari calculation as a checkbox. This one starts there:

• Qom institute method by default; Tehran method and fully custom twilight angles also available
• Maghrib computed by solar depression angle, not as a fixed offset from sunset
• Shari'i (Ja'fari) midnight — the true midpoint between Maghrib and Fajr, which is the end time for Isha
• Optional Imsak row with an adjustable offset
• Per-prayer minute offsets, so you can match your local mosque or marja'
• High-latitude rules for northern users (Night Middle, One-Seventh, Angle)

A NOTE ON ACCURACY

Prayer times depend on the calculation method, and scholars differ. The default angles follow the Qom institute. If your mosque or marja' uses different values, the custom angles and per-prayer offsets let you match them exactly. If you find a discrepancy, please get in touch — accuracy reports are taken seriously and have driven several releases.
