ROMA X-PAND

The ROMA X-PAND app is the result of a project funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI), carried out in collaboration with the Special Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Rome for the Baths of Caracalla site and developed by NAIS S.r.l. in collaboration with GTER S.r.l.

It is an app designed to accompany you during your visit to the Baths of Caracalla, offering descriptions of the various rooms and the ability to view certain statuary groups and ancient artifacts in Augmented Reality, reproducing them in their exact original position.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH ROMA X-PAND

View 3D models of ancient artifacts in Augmented Reality, including Hercules and the Farnese Bull, positioned in the actual spaces of the Baths of Caracalla.
Orient yourself around the site with an interactive map, follow the tour routes, and always know where you are within the monument.
Learn more about the history of the rooms and artifacts with descriptive sheets, inspectable 3D models, images, and multimedia content.
Listen to content thanks to integrated voice reading.
Contribute to the protection of the site as a citizen scientist by reporting any critical issues directly from the app.

A NEW WAY TO VISIT THE HERITAGE

ROMA X-PAND was created to enrich the visitor experience: digital content interacts with the actual monument, accompanying you in exploring one of the most magnificent thermal complexes of antiquity.

REQUIREMENTS AND NOTES

Augmented Reality features require an ARCore-compatible device (Android) and an active data connection. On older devices or devices with limited hardware, the AR experience may not be available or may exhibit reduced performance. All other features are guaranteed.
Some features rely on third-party services whose availability is independent of the app provider.

The app is designed for on-site use at the Baths of Caracalla (Rome).
Precision positioning for Android is ensured by Galileo’s High Accuracy Service (HAS).
