Review summary
ARP Guard is praised for effectively detecting ARP spoofing and WiFi network intrusions, acting as a reliable alert system that enhances security awareness for users. The app has a straightforward interface and complements traditional antivirus software. However, it doesn't block attacks, only notifies them, and some users report false positive warnings. Location permission requirements and limited active protection, especially without rooting devices, are notable drawbacks. Developer support concerns and permission challenges were mentioned but overall, users find it a valuable tool for WiFi security monitoring.
Pros
- Effectively detects ARP spoofing and WiFi intrusion attempts, providing timely alerts to users.
- Acts like an intrusion detection system (IDS), notifying when suspicious network activity occurs.
- Helps protect user devices by identifying potential WiFi security threats and unauthorized connections.
- Simple and straightforward interface making it user-friendly.
- Provides additional security by complementing antivirus protection and prompting user actions like router resets or avoiding risky networks.
Cons
- Does not prevent or block attacks; it only notifies users, so active protection is limited.
- False positive alerts occur, causing users to receive spoofing warnings even on trusted networks or multiple routers.
- Requires location permission (FINE_LOCATION) to access BSSID and SSID data, which some users may find concerning.
- Some users experience issues with app permissions, such as needing to enable location always-on for the app to function properly, and lack of developer response to support requests.
- Cannot protect against certain attacks like WiFi killing without rooting the device, limiting full protection capabilities.

2023-05-18 | not sure it works... I have static IPS on all my network devices. If it's looking for a static public IP - wifi routers rarely actually have those.... but my main router - off the WAN port of the wifi router does actually have a static public IP... if that's what it's looking for - it's not finding it... also spoofed access points are kinda rare... it's easier to connect to your access point and sniff traffic then it is to spoof an access point...
2023-02-07 | It is almost a necessity with how WiFi is vulnerable, you need to have the extra watch guard, prevention at least to complement any unknown intruder, Without any doubt, anything's potentially a threat to confidentiality.
2022-12-15 | A necessity? Maybe but other than clicking all the options on and clicking the shield from red to black if the gateway Mac seems the same 🤷🏿♂️🤷♂️ , and being the only Android option of its kind by a developer who knows their shtt, I say get it, use it, and if it warns you, just do what you can to handle those warnings, like reset your router or get off that public/friend's hotspot. As is, don't trust any device or network you didn't build yourself in a cave 1 mile deep in Antarctica. 🤟🏽
2022-07-17 | Works great! I tested using a Python library called Scapy, it allows me to spoof MAC addresses. ARP Guard detected the irregularity and notified me. Also detected a public Best Buy network that my phone was connecting to automatically, it was the store I bought my phone from and I forgot to turn off auto connect to WiFi. ARP Guard essentially acts like an IDS, it won't stop or prevent unwanted connections but it will do its job letting you know when another device is connecting.
2022-05-19 | Thanks . I think this just showed me what no other apps have showed me. to all these script kitties looking to get their next data dope fix 👌. There's man in the middle attacks but a new one should be coined . Cuz not all are men. And kitties scratch . Not much of a attack .
2021-08-25 | This app detect detected a network change when bssid looked the same to me when scanned there were then two networks with what looked like the same BSSID. Also this app correctly detected Wifi intrusion with intrusion detection 3 times. Amazing for what appears to be such a simple unassuming app. Some apps I paid for were not as good, despite better graphics.
2021-05-01 | Paid for premium, noticed a bug where the app would only work if you enabled location access all the time. The app does not let you select that permission, tried emailing the developer twice no reply! Refund???
2021-04-07 | I must admit that I was sceptical to say the least regards this apps claims. I did however install it upon its word. I can now say that I am definitely delighted I did so, not only has the ARP Guard (WiFi) secured all of my android devices as well as speeding all of them up very nicely thank you. I don't hand out top marks to all apps but I do reward trust and reliability which I've been met with by this apps provider. Security is Secure. |
