Murmuras

Murmuras is an advanced research technology platform developed as a spin-off from the University of Bonn, tailored for scientists conducting behavioral studies. The extension allows users to participate in research by sharing diverse behavioral data securely and in compliance with GDPR.

The system collects a wide range of data including GPS location, smartphone usage patterns, app content, survey responses, and wearable device metrics such as activity and sleep. It builds on insights from the Menthal project, a large-scale study with over 700,000 smartphone users since 2014, ensuring scientifically valuable data collection. Murmuras prioritizes data privacy by excluding personalized advertising or automated credit scoring, hosting data securely on German servers. Its full-stack solution supports both data gathering via the Murmuras app and analysis via a web platform, making it a vital tool for behavioral researchers worldwide.
