MK Earthquake Monitor is a free earthquake early warning app that detects P-waves and S-waves using your phone's accelerometer sensor, working completely offline. No data collection. No ads. No internet required. No location permission needed.

This app is dedicated to all those who lost their lives in earthquake disasters. It was developed to keep their memory alive and to defend life.

⚡ HOW IT WORKS

When an earthquake occurs, two different waves propagate:
- The fast P-wave arrives first
- The destructive S-wave arrives next

MK Earthquake Monitor detects both waves — two independent filters run in parallel; whichever meets the condition first triggers the alarm.

Most apps on the market only detect the S-wave, meaning they warn after shaking has already begun. Because MK Earthquake Monitor also detects the P-wave, it can warn before the S-wave arrives in distant earthquakes.

Tested with real accelerometer data from USGS and CESMD; in an Mw 7.3 earthquake simulation, the alarm was triggered at all sensitivity levels.

📊 ALGORITHM

Shaking acceleration is converted to the international MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale) value and displayed live on screen. The algorithm was developed through comparative calculations against standard values in the MMI III–VII range.
