MS Survey 2024

The MS Survey App, developed by the Urban Management Centre as part of the NAMASTE project, serves as an application for conducting surveys for manual scavengers and insanitary latrines across India. This app is designed to facilitate data collection, helping manual scavengers and their families access government entitlements and social welfare benefits.
The MS Survey App enables Urban and Rural Local Bodies and other parastatals to efficiently identify individuals involved in manual scavenging and map insanitary latrines that do not meet health and safety standards. This identification process is the first step towards providing essential support services to these individuals and their families, helping them transition to safer livelihoods and access social benefits. The MS Survey App provides authorities with the necessary data to monitor compliance with the legal provisions, ensuring timely interventions to prevent the perpetuation of manual scavenging.
The core strength of the MS Survey App lies in its capacity for accurate and real-time data collection. By enabling surveyors to record data directly from the field, the app ensures that local authorities have access to the most up-to-date information. By identifying and registering manual scavengers, it enables their enrollment in schemes offered by the National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC), the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and other relevant ministries. These schemes include financial assistance, skill development programs, and employment opportunities in sectors other than sanitation, helping individuals transition away from manual scavenging and achieve economic stability.
The MS Survey App is designed to be easy to use for field workers, ULB staff, and government officials. Its user-friendly interface allows for seamless data entry, tracking, and analysis, making it an efficient tool for gathering information from even the most remote areas. The app is accessible on multiple devices, ensuring that surveyors in different regions can easily use it to collect and upload data in real time.
