Kotomi: Cozy Cat Collector

Make a cozy room. Put a toy in it, fill the bowl, and go and live your life. When you come back, somebody will have visited.

Kotomi is a quiet game about making a home and collecting friends. Cats and dogs wander into the room you have made for them, settle onto the cushion or in the cardboard box, stay a while, and leave you a little something for the trouble. There is nothing to lose and nothing to miss.

Every room starts empty, and it becomes yours
Nothing is arranged for you. You buy the rug, the lamp, the bookcase and the little pet house, and you put them exactly where you want them. Over a hundred pieces to choose from, and a shelf of things made just for the animals: beds, baskets, a felt cave, a water bowl, a toy box and a rug printed with paw prints.

Forty six friends to meet
Every pet has a favourite toy, a name you can change, and a page in your PETalog that fills in the first time they visit. Some come the first day. A few take patience.

Twenty places to open up
A still zen garden, a bakery, a starry rooftop, a frozen palace, a rainy reading room, a tea house veranda in blossom. Each one is somewhere different to arrange your things and somewhere different for your friends to sleep.

Two friends who grow close may bring you a third
Put out the Star Nest, and pets who have spent enough time together may leave you something on a quiet night. Every little one born in your rooms is yours alone, takes the name you give it, and never existed anywhere else.

No timers, no energy, no waiting to play
Nothing counts down. Nothing runs out. Nothing punishes you for being away for a week, and nothing rewards you for staring at it. The bowl never empties and the game never nags.

And no adverts, at all
Not between rooms, not for rewards, not anywhere. No account to make, nothing collected about you, and nothing that leaves your phone.
