MoonOpps: Lunar Mission Atlas

MoonOpps is an interactive reference console for lunar exploration. It combines a real-time 3D globe of the Moon with a structured archive of missions, operators, and official place names - all drawn from public records and citable sources.

Open the Orbit View and the Moon renders as a navigable sphere. Tap a labeled feature and a knowledge panel opens with its details: feature type, diameter, the meaning of its name, coordinates, the year the name was approved by the IAU, and a direct link to the USGS Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature entry it comes from. The place-name data follows the official IAU/USGS gazetteer, including satellite craters, so more names appear as you zoom in.

Alongside the globe, MoonOpps tracks the current era of lunar activity:

- Missions - upcoming, in-progress, and completed lunar missions, each with a status, timeline, and the organizations behind it.
- Operators and actors - the space agencies and companies running the missions, with their roles and relationships.
- Regions - the lunar areas where activity is concentrated, tied back to the map.
- Awards and dossiers - deeper reference pages that connect missions, hardware, and outcomes.

Every data point is presented with provenance in mind. Confidence levels and sources are shown where they matter, and a dedicated Sources and Methodology section explains where the information comes from and how it is maintained. MoonOpps is a chronicle of public-record spaceflight data, not opinion or forecasting.

What MoonOpps does NOT do is just as deliberate:

- No account or sign-in. Everything works immediately, with full functionality and no credentials.
- No ads and no ad SDKs.
- No analytics or tracking. The app itself runs no analytics or tracking SDKs and collects no personal data. (The only data stored is one or two on-device interface preferences that never leave your device. The site's CDN handles standard delivery and security processing - see the privacy policy.)

MoonOpps is built as an installable web app. The Android app presents the same moonopps.com experience full-screen, so it stays current with the live data without heavyweight downloads.
